Here's what inevitably happens when I go out for a walk in Saxony. I thought it was a dog at first, then he came over and wanted me to pet him, and I realized he was a pet goat.
The cute li'l fella wanted to play... a little too much. When i wouldn't let him eat my shoe he decided to make love to my leg.
Sunday was my birthday & it was gooder'n hell - We did a Saturday afternoon show at Lollapalooza then hung out side-stage & generally enjoyed the rest of a killer afternoon. The weather was perfect. I seem to remember that Lupe Fiasco was a high point. I ran into some friends I haven't seen in a long time, plus had the usual weirdo moments & sightings that happen wherever there are a shitload of celebs or hangers-on (Wentz/Simpson, Slash, etc). RATM finished the show but couldn't maintain momentum because of moshing and I think some people may have been hurt (left early and heard ambulances on the way out).
My and Danny's birthdys are only a couple of days apart so we combined forces to make some side-cash. Some of our New Orleans friends were in town with the Tony Clifton show (if you have the chance, see it), so we got hooked up w/tix and went out to do that whole thing, which pretty much guarantees a night of drinking and possible debauchery. We met the girls for lunch in Bucktown/Wicker Park & pretty much set the tone for the rest of the eve...
My friend Mandy met me at a sushi joint around the corner from the theatre but the power went out, but I guess that's not a problem for sushi places, since the food is raw. Good times...
Then... Clifton. Holy Fuck. Just Google him, I can't explain it here.
Mandy & I went to get some drinks (the theatre was B.Y.O.B., but there was no B. to be found in the area) and wait for the rest of our crew. Our TM Danny had hooked us up w/tix to see The Supersuckers, so we decamped to Milwaukee Ave. and cooled our heels and livers in a tavern for an hour while they waded thru the rest of Clifton.
By the time we met them at The Abbey (in Chicago, not the shithole on lower Decatur), Mandy & I were pretty sloshed. All the cabbies were East African and either didn't speak good English or didn't know their way around. Why is it that in fucking Greece, which is basically third-world, all the cabbies have GPS but not in Chicago?
Regardless, the 'Suckers rocked.
Which was cool. At this point I think I was outta my mind and the rest of the night was progressively blurrier...
We ate breakfast at some point then got 6 of us in one cab. So I woke up with an aching head AND back. All in all, it was one of the better ones.
FINALLY FEELING AT HOME AND ...i gotta split in a coupla weeks. too bad, I've REALLY been getting comfy at home.
it's been fun. Probably gained all the prerequisite weight expected of me, and killed the standard number of brain/liver cells. See you guys in July/August: 7/10/08 The Roxy Hollywood CA 7/12/08 Showbox Seattle WA 8/2/08 Lollapalooza Chicago IL

Ok, so someone pointed out to me, after I admitted the the FIRST song that I saw on 'Party Shuffle' (see last blog) was not the one I chose to record, since it was a choral piece that was 20 minutes long, in German, and impossible to pull off without a 5-octave vocal range and an actual musical education.
Well, kiss my ass. I give you a bit of "Jesu Meine Freude", a motet composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The full title of the work is Motet No. 3 in E minor, BWV 227.
OK, so I only did the first verse, but that shit was hard enough. Gimme some credit. Hopefully the next one will be Merle haggard or something easier.
I'M WIDE AWAKE, IT'S MORNING i couldn't sleep last night, so at 6am i got restless and decided to open iTunes, put it on 'party shuffle' and record a cover of the first random song in the playlist. I think i'll do this more often, it was a good experience.
today the first thing that came up was The Cardigans' "Feathers And Down" from the album Long Gone before daylight.
